Replica of a SpaceX Falcon 9
Replica of a pair of Joycons for the Switch
Replica of a SpaceX Falcon 9
This model was made at a 100:1 scale, thus making the resulting model 70cm tall, something that can fit on a shelf with an open top.
This model was made for display purposes, however if I get around to it a hobby grade model rocket can be made using this model as a shell to start with.
The interstage contains the avionics, as well as the decoupler for the 2nd stage. On a real Falcon 9 the interstage and its flight controls (grid fins) allow the Falcon 9 1st stage to control itself on reentry and maneuver to its landing zone.
The Falcon 9 sports a cluster of 9 Merlin engines (also of SpaceX design), while this model doesn’t actually contain rocket motors, a modification to include hobby grade solid fuel motors isn’t entirely out of the question.
Replica of a pair of Joycons for the Switch
With the new OLED Switch coming out, I decided to replicate the all white joycon colour scheme. While functionality isn’t as much of a concern for a static model, visuals definitely are.
The Switch came with the classic Red/Blue combo for its joycons, which I attempted to replicate in this version of my model. This colour scheme is chosen following the classic Player-1 and PLayer-2 colours in most retro games.
While replicas are intended to mirror the original object to the mark, I actually prefer to modify my replicas ever so slightly. This allows me to identify my replica easily, while also avoiding accusations of copying another product. (I stand to gain no monetary benefit from these replicas.)
